Grünroute

Gangelt

With the Green Route (“Grünroute”), the Grünmetropole project developed as part of the EuRegionale 2008 links neighbours in the Euregio Maas-Rhein region and offers cyclists an attractive cultural and natural space. The route leads from Beringen in Belgisch-Limburg through Niederländisch-Limburg into Heinsberger Land region, the Aachen urban region and the district of Düren. Discover this former industrial landscape, which used to be dominated by coal mining and which is now undergoing a process of transformation. In the Heinsberger Land region, the heath nature park, (“Heidenaturpark”) with the “Natuur- und Landschaftspark Rodebach | Roode Beek” near Gangelt and the Teverener Heide heath, as well as the “Grenzland-Wurmtal” Wurm valley border region near Übach-Palenberg are good places to start.
