Since the days when the Romans ruled the country, Niederrhein has become a region full of history and a land of discovery, with its central location on Europe’s largest river and an environment with a unique culture to offer. There are unique collections of contemporary art of international standing in the numerous museums in the homeland of Joseph Beuys. Today, on the other hand, the people of Niederrhein are still, in part, living in the past. However, this only applies to the regional history, which is by no means portrayed in a boring way, as evidenced for example by the numerous ethnological museums of the region, where the lifestyle and everyday life of the resident folk of Niederrhein is kept alive and thus remembered. Magnificent and elaborate church treasures as well as toys from ancient times and much more are displayed in the museums of Niederrhein. See for yourself.
