Alpen is a rural community consisting of four districts (Alpen, Bönninghardt, Menzelen and Veen) with the flair typical of the Lower Rhine region. The Bönninghardt and Leucht woodlands, with their high-quality hiking and cycle routes, also offer a well-maintained network of horseriding paths. The 37 km-long cycle trail “Alpen tour on the Lower Rhine” offers varied and interesting scenery as well as plenty of water sports opportunities on the lake in Menzelen.
